Lose Weight by Just Giving Up Soda Daily

The Little or No Soda Diet Really Works

Despite diet being in the subtitle, this isn't really a diet article. It's not a comprehensive discussion of food, or tightly structured program with rules to follow. I won't tell you what to eat or what not to eat, nor tell you to avoid certain food groups like carbs or fats or whatever grabs you as a prime temptation.

What I wish to say plainly and emphatically: Avoid drinking soda as much as you possibly can.

Now, I'm sure the soda companies will love me as much as those who love drinking soda daily. Let's get right down to it, no secrets. I'm one of those people. I love soda and drink it a lot, and I mean daily. Well, I used to drink it alot, until I said enough is enough. I wanted a change that wasn't too expensive, difficult or requiring a club membership where meals are doled out carefully like prescription drugs.

I have given up soda before. Once I went a whole year without drinking a drop. Was it tough? Absolutely. I'm no coffee drinker, so I get my caffeine fix with tea and soda. We all can relate to caffeine deprivation in some form. Starbucks is a temple to many, for soda lovers it's the free refill fountain - a double whammy of sweetened caffeine loaded with sugar or corn syrup.

Most sodas use a specialized form called high fructose corn syrup and many people say it's worse than sugar in how we process it. I can't speak on that, but the soda syrup carbonated combo is a potent potion. If it's not a real biological addiction, it's definitely a mental one.

You're probably thinking: Hey, Einstein, don't give up soda, just drink diet soda! Sure. That's an option. But a true soda lover knows diet soda is just a tease. It's a pale, cold gassy clone, which only makes one long for the real deal. Diet soda is like a magic potion trying to fool our tongues, but never succeeds, at least not for me. Also, that cold gassy clone bloats you. It's a simple reason which makes diet soda a poor substitute. The carbonation in diet soda makes you feel heavy. When it's given up, you feel much lighter without the bloat.
