One of the best things a writer can do is write. Sometimes we forget this and go for weeks or months on end without writing a single word. When we do this, we get out of practice and our ideas begin to become stagnant. This can be a very difficult thing for a writer to recover from. To avoid this, write something every day. Even if it is just an idea for something you might write about later, commit it to the paper. This also serves a secondary purpose. I cannot begin to tell you how many ideas I have lost along the way because of failing to write them down. If you commit every idea to paper, you have a resource to look back upon when you are having difficulty finding a subject to write about.
