Growing up too fast

It won't last

It just might burst thru its cage

Trapped inside

Animal from the wild

It cannot live thru this rage

A fragile thing

That took a deadly sting

I'm surprised it still lives now

Broken and shattered

Stomped on and tattered

Not sure how much more it'll allow

It needs to live

I just don't know what to give

There are no remedies for this doin'

It didn't break on its own

Like a dog to a bone

It sought out its own ruin

I wish it didn't hurt so much

Yet I cannot stop your touch

From igniting it into further flame

I know not of how to prevent

Only of how to let it vent

Just not where to put the blame

Oh tender thing of mine

I wish I could lead us to cloud nine

For there paradise must surely be

But when you're stuck here on the ground

Wings torn, soul drowned

Nothing left to take us to what we yearn to see

In the end, naught to do

I must let hope fly true

And trust it flies me straight into my hearts content

Alas, I wish to know

What my heart yearns for so

So I can steer my way clearly thru torment

But figures, I'm not that blessed

I should be happy to be so stressed

For I know now that it must mean something key

Things that are worth getting

Require hard work, no easy quitting

But are you really worth that much to me

Whisper to me, heart inside

I wish to learn what you do hide

I need answers to stop my soul from hurting so

Heart, soul, and mind

Why can't they coincide?

Why must they always bicker, back and forth they go
