I've perceived it was in the offering
from my blood soaked hands,
on these blood stained cheeks
the realization of a fraud,
as I lay dying a slow death
agonizing my last breath
spilled out onto the floor
and fading, contemplating ...

your laughter rang sharp
you turned and looked the other way
and I knew in an instant
it was never as I once believed,
for how could a friend
a trusted confidant
hold tight the dagger
and smile
or smirk ...

now that the crimson was making it's way
to a watery grave
filling fast with my tears,
crying for release
and reaching deaf ears,
you scoffed as I quietly passed ...

Clarity's Song

steps to betrayal
