The news has been filled with reports about the strong start to the holiday shopping season, especially for online retailers. A recent survey indicates that there is strong reasons for online retailers to be optimistic about the remainder of the holiday season. This study was consucted by Safe Home Products and is called "Holiday Shopping: How Consumers are Spending This Year". The results of the survey show a strong interest in making online purchases by consumers this holiday season. This information was provided in a recent press release by Safe Home Products.

It was revealed in the survey that 95% of those questioned about their holiday shopping plans for this year plan to do at least a portion of their shopping online this year. Many actually have found that they prefer to do their shopping online when compared with at traditional brick and mortar stores. 65 percent of those surveyed said they were planning on doing over half of their holiday shopping season shopping online this year.

So, how much will these shoppers be spending online this year? Well the studay asked the participants. 42 percent of those surveyed indicate that they will be spending over $500 this holiday season in online shopping. Only 33 percent of the consumers studied revealed that they were intending on spending more money online this year compared with how much they spend on online holiday shopping in 2006.

While many organizations recommend shopping online at websites you have used in the past and that you trust along with reputable companies, it appears online shoppers are willing to consider visiting new websites to make purchases. 85 percent according to the study indicated they will visit both old sites they have shopped at in the past and new websites that interest them. The shoppers will not be abandoning their old favorites though, as only 4% are expected to restrict their shopping to new online websites where they have not made purchases in the past.
