What does it take to make a great restaurant? Does it take a good looking building? Perhaps great inside design? Superb food? Good service? Of course, as anyone knows, all of these things are necessary if a restaurant is to be considered truly world class. However, not many restaurants can boast all of these elements together. Indeed, perhaps the thing is lost the most is the good food and the good service.

As restaurants expand into bigger and bigger entities, they tend to lose a lot of what makes it fun to go out and eat, friendly service and good food. However, those who miss the days of old, when a good diner meal was served quickly and with a smile will feel right at home at the Mt. Bethel Diner, located off route 512 in Bangor, Pennsylvania.

Even though the restaurant may not look like too much when viewed from the outside, as soon as one steps through the door, the many things that make the diner such a popular eating location for the locals of the area become instantly clear. From the simple, but home-like setting, to the smiling faces of those who attend to diners, there is really nothing about the inside of the diner not to like.

The smoking and non-smoking sections are separated by a nice buffer, so there is no reason to fear attending if you do not happen to like the smoke-filled atmosphere that can overpower some diners. As takes a seat, and opens a menu, a variety of good looking food springs out, and the choices seem almost unlimited.

Of course, Mt. Bethel Diner has all of the classic food that one could expect to be found at a Diner, but there are also some interesting variations of certain entrées, and one can expect to find gyro's and some other Greek food as well. However, regardless of what one chooses to eat, there is really nothing bad on the menu. The hamburgers are excellent, and the fries are always cooked to order and hot when they come out.

Takeaways
  • Great food
  • Friendly staff
  • Good overall dining experience
Did You Know?
One of the only downsides to the diner are it's limited nighttime hours.
