Food Product Review: Sara Lee Original Cream Cherry Cheesecake
I went to the grocery store looking for a dessert to fix after dinner. I needed something fast and easy. The frozen food aisle had a large selection of cakes and pies to choose from. I noticed the bright red box of the Sara Lee Original Cream Cherry Cheesecake first. On the front,
there was a picture of a gigantic delicious looking slice of cherry cheesecake with a thick graham cracker crust..
The slice was pulled from a cherry cheesecake with lots of cherries on top. This cheesecake won the 2006 Best Taste Award from Chef's Best. You can find out more information on the award at www.chefsbest.org. The Sara Lee Cherry Cheesecake comes in a 19 ounce box and you can buy it at Kroger for $4.99. I decided to buy one and brought it home.
The serving directions on the side of the box states that you need to remove the cheesecake from the pan while it is still frozen. There are two ways that you can thaw out the Sara Lee Original Cream Cherry Cheesecake. You can thaw the slices or whole cake on a plate for 30-45 minutes at room temperature or for 4-5 hours in the refrigerator. If you're ready to eat cheesecake immediately, you can quickly thaw out 1 slice for 20 seconds or 2 slices for 30 seconds.
I opted to thaw out the entire cheesecake at room temperature while cooking dinner. By the time, my family was done eating, the Sara Lee Cherry Cheesecake was ready to eat. The cheesecake didn't look nearly as big as the picture on the box. But, the pie was really thick and had lots of cherries. One-fourth of the pie was a 320 calorie serving. There is also 11 grams of fat, 50 milligrams of Cholesterol, and 32 grams of sugar in just one slice.
The Sara Lee Original Cream Cherry Cheesecake tasted delicious. The cheesecake filling was very smooth in texture and just the right sweetness. Also, the cherries had a sweet and tart taste in a sweet glaze. The flavors of the cheesecake and cherry topping combined really well. It tasted really fresh and like it was homemade. My family had a fit over it and the entire cake was gone in less than 30 minutes.
