You may love the sweet and natural taste of honey, but have mistakenly assumed that this product of nature was anything but healthy, misinterpreting that ever so sweet taste as something to avoid in your attempts at maintaining a healthy diet. Before you write off honey, consider the wonderful benefits it provides the human body, both inside and out. It's truly amazing.

We have a family friend who is a practicing beekeeper of all things. When you know someone who's into bees, you not only hear a lot of bee talk, you hear a lot of honey talk too. Learning about honey's many benefits has prompted me to reconsider it's place in my pantry. Rather than making honey an occasional purchase, it's now become a staple in our home.

Here are just a few facts and benefits concerning this glory of nature:

1. A bit of honey does wonders for comforting a tender throat. Honey has a natural anti-inflammatory quality and is much healthier than any medication you'll find at a pharmacy.

2. Honey is used in impoverished areas of the world to treat wounds and burns. Believe it or not, honey is very therapeutic to the skin and provides a natural antiseptic. It's also wonderful at helping to reduce scaring as it naturally draws and retains moisture when applied to a wounded area of the body.

3. Consuming honey from your area of the world may help boost your resistance to local seasonal allergens and it will cost you a lot less than getting those nasty allergy shots. You mean, I don't have to suffer with the sniffles?

4. Honey has been used to remove blackheads! Place a thin layer of honey on the affected area of your face and pat gently until the blackheads release from your pores. Something tells me this treatment would be far more beneficial to your skin than the acne products currently on the market.

5. Since honey is naturally sweeter than sugar, you can substitute it in recipes, using only half as much.

6. Honey is not only very easy to digest, but it's also fat free, sodium free, and cholesterol free and a wonderful source of antioxidants.

Your writing is easy to undestand, effective and quite interesting and informative. Besides my middle name is Honey so I am partial to writings on honey. BTW Did you ever hear of "Raw Honey" Honey in the Raw. Its honey with its bee pollen, propolis, royal jelly left in its complete natural state. Its sold in Health food stores and better, organic supermarkets.
