In every church across the United States, there is probably at least one gay man or woman sitting in the pews on Sunday morning. And, in spite of what they may be told by the preacher speaking from the pulpit, they are coming to the understand that they are not wrong in the eyes of the Lord. They are understanding that being gay is not a "chosen lifestyle." It is, instead and inborn trait and thereby, God-given. They are realizing that God blesses their committed monogamous relationships as much as He blesses the love of their heterosexual counterparts.

A number of Christian Clergy are now beginning to see that gay people are born with same sex attractions and don't decide to "become" gay later in life. These clergy persons, more often then not, are of the opinion that homosexuality is a test from God. Gay men and women feel the way they feel, but how they act upon it is the test. Many gay Christians also feel this way and they opt for lifelong celibacy. I respect that choice. I may not agree that it is necessary, but I respect it.

Then there are the other clergy persons. These are the people who believe that homosexuality is caused by a number of factors. Among these factors is : sexual abuse at an early age, an over-bearing mother, an distant father, and addiction to the act of gay sex. Some believe it is "caused" by demons. They believe this, in my opinion, because they cannot believe that gays are born with same sex attractions. To believe this would be to believe that God created homosexuality. To believe that God created homosexuality would bring everything that they have been taught about the Bible crashing down around them. They fully believe the held interpretations of the "clobber verses." They see gay people as unrepentant sinners who are imprisoned by the act of gay sex. They feel that if gays would just stop having sex, they would cease being gay and in turn be right with God.

Takeaways
  • Deciphering the "Clobber verses" that may or may not pertain to gay people
  • Understanding the Bible and translations in regards to homosexuals
  • On the 8th day God created homosexuals

The last sentence sums it all up..."their faith should not be questioned." It is not our place to judge another.

Awesome article! I think all but the truly misguided know that gay people are born with this attraction, and cannot be wrong for being who they were born to be. There will always be those that are ignorant and won't think for themselves and believe they are deviant or filled with demons.
