Mazda North American Operations has announced their sales numbers for the month of November. The decrease in sales volume of 1 percent compared with November of 2006 ends a series of three consecutive months in which sales volume for 2007 outperformed the sales volume for that month in 2006. Despite this decrease in sales for November, Mazda North American Operations still reported positive news regarding their sales for the year to date. For the year to date, Mazda's total units sold is 271,181 units. This is an increase of nine percent compared with the first eleven months of 2006. This information was provided in a recent press release from Mazda North American Operations.Mazda's operations in Mexico did have a positive November compared with November of 2006, continuing the overall good news for the company's financial numbers. There were 1,468 units sold by Mazda Motor de Mexico during the month of November. This was an increase of 74 percent compared with November of one year ago. For the year to date, Mazda Motor de Mexico has a sales volume of 14,452 units, which is up 132 percent from last year during the same time frame.
The news for Mazda Canada, Inc. is not as positive. During the month of November Mazda Canada, Inc. sold 4,715 units which was down 9.9 percent from November of 2006. For the year the news is positive though as Mazda Canada, Inc. has a sales volume of 81,848 units sold which is up 7.1 percent compared with the same time frame in 2006.
"Housing uncertainties, rising fuel prices and sagging consumer confidence all year long have finally conspired to slow Mazda's winning pace," said Jim O'Sullivan, who is president and CEO of Mazda North American Operations. "Three consecutive months of double-digit increases, driven primarily by increased availability of MAZDA3 and a first year of CX-9 sales that exceeded even our expectations, still see us as one of the strongest car companies in the business. We're selling cars and crossover SUVs, we're making money and our outlook for the year continues strong.", concluded O'Sullivan.
