In case you're in the market for a new car, I'm going to narrow your search down to two little numbers that will save you the hassle of going through the nightmarish ordeal of dealing with car salespersons. Notice I used the non-gender specific version of the descriptor for people who sell cars. That's because I don't want to relay the opinion that only guys sell cars, because women do too, and actually I far prefer a female sales "person".

Men tend to think they already have it all together before you begin to tell them what you're looking for, and take you down this road of what you need before they even know why you came there. Typical guy response of not listening. Women on the other hand lend a bit of the mothering thing and can make you feel a bit like they really might care why you came in. Given a choice I would go with a woman, which is actually who sold me my car.

Now I chose a Mini Cooper. First of all I don't have ego issues so I don't really have a need to buy an SUV or a dual-wheel pickup that can haul 20,000 tons of dirt, when I use my car for business and to go to church. I don't have to be 14 feet off the ground because I don't have issues with my height or my other various shortcomings. They are what they are, and no monster truck is really going to fix any of that. What I do want however, is a car that drives, well--like a car!

I grew up tinkering with sports cars with a British lineage of Triumph and such. So I like to press on the gas and go like a rocket. The Mini can do that. I don't want a car that everybody in the city drives. The Mini fits that model. I especially like a fun car. And oh so true to that statement is the Mini. Nothing like getting in your car, and having it be like getting in your go-cart. Actually there isn't a single thing I don't like about the Mini except that I didn't opt for the satellite radio/ipod option, but I am upgrading as I go.
