Animal Testing is Quite Fowl

“It is estimated that biomedical research uses up to 100 million animals each year, despite irrefutable evidence that animal studies produce inadequate and often misleading results” (Animals and Scientific Research 1). Animals are killed for many different applications and probably contr
ibute to several scientific conclusions. However, there are no valid justifications to support the continued use of animals in scientific experiments. Millions of animals are used for various scientific tests. These tests are unethical, and many effective and practical alternatives exist.

Vivisection, or animal testing, is used in many programs and studies all around the world. Many animals, including cats, dogs, horses, rodents, farm animals, and marine life, are used to develop vaccines against polio, rubella, and tuberculosis as well as to test treatments for cancer and HIV. However, large amounts of animals are used to test trivial products such as shampoos and cosmetics. Researchers give many different arguments to support animal testing, but it really boils down to money. At the research level, scientists need to publish their studies constantly or risk losing their jobs. Vivisection, or animal testing, is the fastest and easiest method to acquire scientific results. The companies that supply scientists with the animals are clearly opposed to the banning of vivisection; it would completely eliminate their business. More importantly, though, are the drug companies’ opposition to a vivisection ban. Pharmaceutical companies would see a significant cut in profits if vivisection was banned, since testing on animals can speed up the process of getting a drug from the lab to the market.

It is so horrible what they do to those harmless creatures! They should be stopped and put in jail. I think all animals should live free in the wild. Go to your local zoos and set them free, that's what I say. It's the only right thing to do!
