Originally, this war has been going on in the Middle East along the Israeli - Lebanese border since 1948 between the Arabs and Israeli people.
In 1948, there were five ethnic Arab nations opposed to the creation of Israel as a nation on land which Arabs believe belong to them. The currently occupied land is known as Palestine to the Arab world, while it is Israel to others. As a result of of the Israeli - Lebanon Conflict, there have been thousands of Palestinians that have traveled to near by nations.

In response to the Jewish nation state coming into existence, several Palestinian guerrilla armies formed and attacked Israeli targets at will. This created a war known as the Jordanian War which resulted in the expulsion of Palestinian forces from out of Jordan into the nation of Lebanon.

More and more Arab Muslims from out of Jordan migrated into southern Lebanon. And during the battles which ensued, a prominent member for the war against Israel would emerge known as Yasser Arafat (1929 - 2004). He created a land within a land known as "fatherland" which means Al' Fatah, one of his main Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) created in the late 1950s. This group would be infamous for the battles at the border in southern Lebanon which proved to be fatal to many of its inhabitants who were not Muslim. The resulting deaths of many of the Lebanese in the invasion changed the balance of the population in southern Lebanon to a more ethnic Muslim controlled area. And by 1975, Lebanese Christians and Muslims began a bloody civil war. The nation of Syria involved itself by sending in a 40,000 manned peace keeping force to halt the civil war between the rival religious Lebanese groups, but would eventually side with the Muslim Lebanese and other pro - Muslim factions in southern Lebanon. The nation of Israel saw this as a danger and started to arm anti - Muslim factions in Lebanon, meanwhile, the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) would attack northern Israel during the Lebanese Civil War. By 1978, Israel would decide to invade the heavily controlled PLO southern Lebanon.

Just one more thing. Why do we send our tax payer dollars to subsidize both sides of the conflict? What the hell is that all about?

You obviously have some knowledge of history and although I have done research into some countries of the middle and near east, some of my own knowledge is lacking. I have a question for you. Why did the USA back the Jewish people in the creation of the Israeli State? I know they were backed by our Navy and assisted by the US and British Government. What I want to know is why? Why did we feel the need to assist the Jewish people in evicting and murdering the people of Palestine? It seems to me, if we hadn't, the world would be a much more peaceful place today. Also a second question for you. Now that they exist, why does America feel the need to tie the hands of Israel, when we all know what they need to do?
