Free First Night Boston Events
Boston First Night event is a family-friendly, alcohol-free event. Free events at First Night Boston are the outdoor events. In addition to the scheduled events below, there will be ice sculptures on display. Here are the free events at Boston First Night on December 31, 2007:
5:30pm: The annual Grand Procession makes its way from the Hynes Convention Center to Boylston Street, takes a left onto Charles, and stops at Charles and Beacon Streets.
7:10pm: There will be fireworks on the Boston Common.
7:30pm: Hector on Stilts, Boston Common Parkman Bandstand.
10pm until midnight: The Downbeat 5 performs outside of the Boston Public Library
10pm until midnight: Revolutionary Snake Ensemble performs at the Boston Common Parkman Bandstand. This is also one location for the countdown to midnight.
Midnight: The grand finale of the evening: fireworks over Boston Harbor.

New Year's Day Hike: Tuesday, January 1, 2008
Start the new year right with a refreshing outdoor hike. Sleeping in is okay, since the hike doesn't start until 1pm. The New Year's Day Hike will take you up Prospect Hill to Boston Rock. Please meet at the south entrance of Prospect Hill Park, located at Prospect Hill Road in Waltham, MA 02451. This is a free event that is appropriate for all ages.
