Boycotting Christmas Army Wives Appearing on the Star Jones Show Wednesday and Thursday
Lizzie Barbour and Brittany Werner, the two Army wives featured in my article: "Boycotting Christmas - The True Story of Two Army Wives" are appearing on The Star Jones Show this week.
Lizzie tells me that "the producer was looking through MySpace to find military wives," to do a show segment about how military wives are dealing with the holidays while their husbands are deployed to war. "The first place she thought of was Fort Bragg," North
United States of America Carolina, "so she emailed a few wives," who's MySpace profiles indicated that their husbands were deployed. One of the wives she contacted was Brittany.
The producer "liked how genuine Brittany's response" was, says Lizzie. "The other women were all about getting free stuff and Brittany just asked how she could help another family." The producer chose Brittany to do the show and extended the offer to Lizzie as they are living together while both of their husbands are deployed.
After speaking with both women over the course of several days, the producers of The Star Jones Show are flying Lizzie, Brittany and their three children to New York City to be guests of the show for two days. They will be flying to New York early Wednesday morning (December 12, 2007), appearing on the live show that afternoon and then being sent out on tours of the City. The women and their children will be back on the show Thursday (December 13, 2007) to talk about their experiences touring the City. Immediately after Thursday's show, the two families will be flown back home to Fort Bragg.
Brittany tells me that the Wednesday show is about their husbands. Lizzie says that the show on Wednesday is about what its like to be a military wife, but they do not know what questions they will be asked on air.
Both women only know that they are going on "tours" of New York City after Wednesday's show. They have not been told about any of the details, nor about any surprises which may be thrown their way either Wednesday or Thursday.
