So you watched the ball drop, and now it's the new year. What should you do today? Well here's a list of 10 fun ways to start the brand new year!

Figure out a way to stick to your resolutions! Now is the time to plan if you really want to lose a few pounds, quit smoking, or get out of debt. If you have a game plan you're much more likely to keep working on that resolution throughout the year.

Never have time to read during the week? Today you could curl up with a good book. It's good relaxation, can de-stress you and get you ready for the new year!

Check out a museum! Head on over to http://www.museumspots.com for a list of museums, aquariums and zoos near you that you could see today. It can be both entertaining and educational!

Go shopping! Tons of stores will be having the "after the holiday" sales. Now is a great time to grab some cute sweaters and pants that were too expensive before the holiday season.

Go out to a nice restaurant. Treat yourself and your spouse to yummy (and healthy, if you're trying to shed a few lbs.) cuisine. Keep in mind that most places will be packed and make reservations a few weeks in advance, if you can.

Enjoy your family! Spend today playing board games and having a traditional family day. Engage in fun, quality time before the kids go back to school and you go back to work.

Go to a spa. Today is the first day of a new year, you should spend it in luxurious relaxation. It's probably the last day before you return to work, so why not enjoy it to the fullest?

Have people over! Most people have a New Years Eve party, but why not have a New Years Day party? Make a few appetizers and invite friends over for a mid-afternoon drink. It's just another good way to relax before you have to get back to work.

Watch some football! All over the country there will be loads of games on, check one out if you're a sports fan. There's the Sugar Bowl, the Orange Bowl, The Rose Bowl.

If it's cold and snowy where you are, you could always go skiing, snowboarding, or sledding! If it's not cold and snowy where you are, pretend it is and build a fire, drink cocoa and enjoy the serenity of the day.
