SciFi's Ghost Hunters International Airs January 9 @ 9pm EST

Rumors of a new reality series Ghost Hunters International, a spin off of the original Ghost Hunters Show, have circulated for some time now. The assumption, of course, was that the Jason Hawes and Grant Wilson, co-founders of TAPS and lead paranormal investigators in SCiFi's hit series Ghost Hunters, would lead the team in investigating the most famous haunted locations around the world.

Although Grant and Jason did lead the investigation of Leap Castle in Ireland, they will not be cast members of Ghost Hunters International. Jason and Grant will continue with the original Ghost Hunter Series investigating paranormal occurrences in the states, while Ghost Hunters International will focus on haunted locations in Europe and around the world. The original Ghost Hunters Show has been renewed for a fourth season. Thirteen new episodes will air in 2008. Ghost Hunters International will air on SciFi on January 9th @ 9pm.

Until recently, there had been wide speculation regarding the disappearance of Donna Lacroix and Brian Harnois from the cast of Ghost Hunters. Both SciFi and TAPS remained closed mouthed about the seeming split of the TAPS team. It now seems likely that this split was in preparation for Ghost Hunters International.

Ghost Hunters International's team will feature both Brian Harnois and Donna Lacroix, along with some other familiar faces from TAPS. Andy Andrews, Robb Demarest and Barry Fitzgerald will also join the Ghost Hunters International team. A newcomer, Shannon Sylvia, will round out the team.

In the premiere episode scheduled to show on January 9, 2008 at 9pm, the team will head to Scotland to investigate the abandoned Mary King's Close. This Close is a series of narrow streets and underground vaults that run under the City Chamber on Edinburgh's Royal Mine. Workers and common folk inhabited Mary King's Close during the 1600's. It has long been believed that in 1645 the Close was boarded up to prevent the spread of the plague. It is rumored that Mary King's Close was sealed trapping the sick and dying inside. Do their ghosts haunt Mary King's Close?
