New Mexico is home to many great ski resorts. The are well known for having the some of the best skiing in the country. Skiing in New Mexico offers many different chances to test your skiing abilities.

The top rated resorts are never crowded and offer many great amenities to make your ski vacation perfect. Deciding on a favorite is next to impossible because they are all fantastic places to go.

At this time of year, it would be great to check out a couple of them while you are in New Mexico.

1.The Angel Fire Resort has great skiing for all experience levels. One third of the slopes are for the more advanced skier. They offer great challenges for the most proficient skiers. They always have great snowpack whether natural or assisted.

They are also well equipped for the beginning skiers. Approx. 50% of the trails at Angel Fire are beginner trails. This resort offers great concierge service for other activities in the area as well.

2.Red River Ski Resort is the next great place in New Mexico to ski. With an even distribution of experience level slopes, Red River offers something for everyone. Seven lifts and over 240 acres of trails, skiing is the main focus of this wonderful resort.

3.Ski Apache located on the Mescalero Apache Indian Reservation in Northwest Ruidoso is a sleeper resort. With 11 lifts, 52 ski runs and some vertical drops over 1900 feet, Ski Apache is for the avid skier.
Beginner as well as expert trails offer a wide range of options.

4.Taos Ski Valley is a personal favorite. Located Northeast of Taos, this is a beautiful place. If you haven't visited Taos Valley yet, you are in for a treat.

They have over 200 acres of trails, over 1000 acres of ski bowls and chutes and vertical drops over 2000 ft.
Taos is more oriented for the expert skier. They have over 50 percent of their trails rated as expert.

New Mexico has many other great places to ski. The above are the ones that are top rated. The other ski resorts in New Mexico are good too. Even though they didn't make the top ones, they have spectacular lodging and great ski areas.

I'm lucky enough to live right in the 4-corners where I'm within a short drive to skiing here in Colorado, Utah, or New Mexico ... you did a great roundup of the NM ones :)
