In many high schools, the use of cell phones has been banned.  In some schools, the mere possession of a cell phone can result in trouble for teens, including losing whole grades, and the teachers obtaining possession of the phones.  Cell phones have become a big issue in schools, and controversy has arisen all over the place.

Many parents feel that their children need to carry their phones with them for after school rides, allowing communication between their teen and themselves, and for simple safety reasons, as many high-school students are just receiving their drivers licenses and parents feel they are a safety precaution in case of an emergency.  But the schools take a different perspective on the use of phones in school, since many students have found ways to alert their friends of test answers through the use of text messaging, which can be done discreetly and silently.  Since many teachers use the same tests for all class periods, kids with the tests in the first hours of the day are able to record the answers and pass them along, or even charge other students, for the answers.

Since cheating has become such a large threat in schools, with the expanding use of the internet and the availability of so many resources, as well as the ease of use through cell phones and passing information, the ban, in some circumstances, does not seem unfair.  Students, who are receiving higher grades through cheating, make it far more difficult for other students who are truly putting their best effort forth.  Not only are they potentially getting better grades, but they are also raising the grade standards for the high school as well as the possibility of getting into certain colleges who require higher grade point averages.  When many students start receiving high grade point averages, it raises the standard for all students to meet.

cell phone are not bad but they do have a point but we need cell phones just in case their are no teachers around and they can call who ever to come help and what if the phone power lines go out then what and their are reasons why we can't have them to for setting off bombs and others but let them keep it in their lockers in their purse but kids bring them anywas so what's the point for not having them

WOW.... what a question you might ask (Does Cel Phones Affect Grades?) to tell you the truth in a way it does but then again it dosent.... The reason it does is because when a student is in class on the phone textin talkin etc... and not paying attition to the teacher what are the learning how to talk on the phone all day... the parents want to know why they children arent passing then the teacher would reply "its because of the phon that you bought your child they stay on it all day".... but if the child didnt have a cellphone and they get into trouble how are they going to beable to call help??...i think that students should have cellohnes in school it helps the childrens safty..... but the govrnment dosent seem to understand that they think that they are doin there jobs by baning cellphones but they are really putting the childern in danger...

Maybe if I actually learned something in school. I can't help it if we have to show up and watch purely entertainment, noneducational videos, do wordsearches and crossword puzzles, and learn the same concept over and over for several weeks. I am bored to tears in school; it fails to challenge me. Why shouldn't I be allowed to text when I am wasting my time and am not learning a thing?

Cell phones are very useful in our life. But people who are using it might misperceive its real essence, that's why some troubles come in. This case is very common to the young generations. So, PROPER GUIDANCE is really recommended. PARENT's role is much needed. I would like to ask if who uses mobile phones frequent, the GIRLS or BOYS?
