The Annie Chun's Rice Express Sushi Wraps Sticky White Rice is not all that great and to be honest it does not come anywhere close to the traditional Sushi Wraps in terms of original aroma and taste. I am of the view that the Annie Chun's has done a terrible job and are in fact trying to fool people by the attractive packaging and appetizing picture on the cover. Having being grown up in typical Japanese house hold and now away from the country, I decided to try the highly acclaimed Annie Chun's Sushi Wrap to satisfy my urge to taste them.

The first thing that I noticed was the exorbitant price tag and going by the reputation of the brand and the instant preparation, I did not make it an issue. Now after tasting this even if someone offers me this for half the price, I would not agree to spoil my taste buds with such a poor mimicry product. Just as the name denotes it can be prepare instantly with an express speed of 2 minutes in a microwave. In my opinion anyone who is used to the original Sushi Wraps Sticky White Rice can even think of such a horrible smelling rice sauce combination. If they had marketed this item as some other rice dish it would have been better. It is true that it can be prepare without any hassles and the laborious process usually involved with the traditional purpose taking more time, but then you have to compromise with the taste factor.

The package comes with Sushi wraps, White rice and Soy sauce and these are the basic stuff required for the preparation. To make the item more interesting and to add a twist to the taste you can add crab, fish, tofu, cheese or chicken in the filling. Adding a hint of spice and a dash of herbs can in a way try to neutralize the weird smell of the soy sauce. It would have been better if soy sauce is complimented with wasabi mustard to boost the taste. The white rice gets cooked properly in the microwave and does not get stiffened. They also stay wonderfully inside the wrap without sticking to each other but it does not go well with the soy sauce.
