I received the following from a friend. It was an answer to an e-mail sent to the writer by a friend who feels Barack Obama is the best candidate. I feel it is extremely well written and asked for permission to post it. I have written permission and did not edit or change anything, with the exception of a few minor typo's. My friend asked to remain anonymous and to also exclude the name of the person who sent the first paragraph. They are known as Jane Doe and John Smith in my posting.

From Jane Doe to John Smith
I do like Ron Paul's views on Bush's disastrous Iraq misadventure and what we should do about it, but I've got issues with just about everything else. Unless a very interesting 3rd party candidate gets into the race, I'm sticking with Obama.

Jane Doe

If Ron weren't running I'd back Obama, as well.

But he's just one more of the acceptable establishment candidates, whereas I'd submit that Ron Paul is the ONLY one that is ready to bring us back to our senses - before we follow the pages of history.

He's not a great charismatic character, this may be true, but his integrity is almost unheard of in our halls of power. Unlike his fellow candidates from both sides of the aisle, he's been able to weather the extreme temptations of that awesome power, and has thereby avoided those roads to almost inevitable corruption.

Who else has refused the bag full of perks for sitting in our Congress? No one, except Dr. Ron.

What Ron brings to the race is something fresh - an astounding sense of history, especially that of the U.S.

To me his candidacy represents an opportunity for a new environment - and here (in this respect...LRM) I am referring to our social environment.

What he will be able to do (within the actual "job description" outlined in our Constitution, to which he is quite loyal, as you know) is encourage us to think outside the box of conventional "wisdom", which familiar "box" is not really wise at all.
Just look at where our thinking has landed us. Don't we need to encourage creativity?
