Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. Galatians 6:7 NKJ

What are you sowing? Is it something that you're sure you want to reap? When you don't have a passion, it's far too easy to just sow any old thing. If you're cool reaping just any old thing, stop reading now. If not, keep going.

God embedded the very core of your being with a passion. Once you discover what it is, it'll cause you to be about something other than mess. And y'all know, God don't bless no mess. Your passion is the area of your life where not only is it easier to sow, but you actually enjoy working at it.

And you have to keep working at it, because when you keep sowing you keep growing. As Colossians 2:19 alludes, God's will is in growth and progress. Your life becomes tragic when you have no desire or ambition. It's an insult to God not to be the best you can be. Don't waste the time God spent designing you by ignoring the passions He gave you. It's up to you to reach your full potential.

Your full potential can only be reached when you do what He's chosen for you to do. Whatever He's chosen for you, He's also enabled you to become. You become what you go after. Why not go after what He's chosen for you? Your passion is God's definition of you.

How Do You Find Your Passion?

That's a great question. I'm so glad you asked! It's actually pretty simple. You just follow your heart.

Here are some questions to help you follow your heart:

What desires, hopes, interests, ambitions, dreams, and affections do you have?
What is it that you love to do?
What do you care about most?
What motivates you?
What keeps you up at night with thoughts of improvements to make?
What captures your attention instead of boring you to death?
What areas can you press through despite discouragement?
Where are you most effective?

Can you answer these questions? If so, CONGRATULATIONS!!! You've almost found your passion. Almost, because your passion comes from your heart. And you can only trust your heart when God controls it.
So now, take the passion that you discovered and filter it through these three questions:

Is it righteous?
Is it prudent?
Is it possible?

Takeaways
  • God embedded the very core of your being with a passion.
  • Whatever He's chosen for you, He's also enabled you to become.
  • God has a reason why you love these things. He's matched your calling to your capabilities.
