On the other hand, bills would surely be forgotten if I didn't write them down and put them in a central location. If I opened my bills and haphazardly tossed them into a pile on the kitchen counter they'd stay buried until I decided to sort out the papers. I appreciate organization, but unfortunately I don't always organize paperwork right away. I sometimes end up with a pile of coupons mixed in with bill stubs, pay stubs, and other items I should keep in case I need them. After being transferred from the kitchen counter, the items I need to file end up in a pile on top of my filing cabinet, and about once a month I go through the entire pile and file the papers in the appropriate location.
This brings us back to the subject of bills. I have a bill paying system that works for me, and I stick to my system to insure that my bills are paid on time. If you have the money to pay your bills but aren't organized enough to find and remember them, consider the following information. My bill paying system is an easy way to keep track of bills, and if you follow my system they'll never ever be late again!
Out of Sight, Out of Mind
Bill organizers come in all shapes and sizes, and an organizer that isn't in plain view isn't an organizer that works. A spiral organizer with pockets would never work for me or anyone else having problems remembering to pay the bills. Instead of a notebook with pockets I bought a wooden organizer that hangs on the wall. The bills I owe remain in view as does the calendar I use to remember what's due and the exact date I have to pay each one.
