Didn't anyone ever teach you to count? Because counting is the only skill you really need to figure out that Saleisha will be the winner of America's Next Top Model when Cycle 9 comes to its fabulous end tomorrow night. Okay, okay... I guess I can't expect you to be into stuff like "counting" and "noticing obvious patterns" (after all, you're an ANTM fan.) So let me explain it to you...

Saleisha wins ANTM9 because she's black. It's that simple. Now before you accuse me of being racist (or accuse me of accusing ANTM of being racist), let me remind you that this is all based purely on mathematics. It just happens to be a special kind of mathematics: the mathematics of black women winning ANTM every 3 cycles.

Cycle 3 was won by the edgy (and black) Eva Pigford. Cycle 6 was won by the stunning (and black) Danielle Evans. It only stands to reason that Cycle 9 has to be won by the stereotypical (and blackish) Saleisha Cooper.

Not convinced? Let's look back to Cycle 6. Runner-up Joanie was "CoverGirl of the Week" three different times and won the reward challenge once. Winner Danielle was CoverGirl only twice and never even won a single reward challenge. By all accounts, Joanie had already proven that she was the better model going into the finale. But poor Joanie wasn't black enough to win a cycle that happened to be a multiple of three. Sorry, Joanie, you can't beat the numbers.

And what about Cycle 3? Eva won the reward challenge only once in twelve episodes (way back in episode 4). Compare this to runner-up Yaya, who won the reward challenge a staggering five times--in fact, swept the challenge in episodes 6 through 11 leading up to the finale. Let's set aside the small-but-obvious detail that Yaya is also black; my real point here is to prove that ANTM's producers make their decisions either 1) to surprise their audience, or 2) to fulfill pre-meditated cycle plans... apparently the decisions on the show have nothing to do with actually rewarding the models who perform the best.

There's something FISHY about America's Next Top Model. (Or an otherwise-inappropriate picture of an Alabama Shad.)

Takeaways
  • If you can count to ten, you can figure out who will be America's Next Top Model.
  • TV kind of sucks anyway.
  • Tyra Banks is still pretty hot.
Did You Know?
Cycle 4 gave us an Indian-Irish-African-Mexican winner and a trip to South Africa. Cycle 8 had a Russian girl winning and a fabulous vacation in Australia. But every third cycle features a black winner and a trip to Asia.

I personally just get this weird idea that ANTM is racist...towards white people. If I hear Tyra say one more time about how there are not enough "black sisters" in the model world I think I am going to puke. After watching Chantal lose to Saleisha I have just become inraged with Tyras attempts to force more colored people into the modeling world. I have nothing against colored people, but they should have to work for it just like whites do.

MY GOSH.. IT MAKES SENSE... I NOTICED THAT TOO... BUT NOT ONLY THAT GUYS... SALEISHA HAS ALSO VIOLATED SOME RULE MAKING HER NOT ELIGIBLE ON WINNING ANTM CYCLE 9. IT WAS BIASED! SHE WAS ALREADY A PROFESSIONAL, APPEARED ON TV ALOT OF TIMES, AND... APPEARED IN TYRA'S SHOW TWICE! IT'S BIASED. CHANTAL SHOULD'VE WON. CHANTAL WAS STILL AN AMATEUR AND GAVE IT EVERYTHING. AND SALEISHA,? WELL, SHE STILL DEPENDED ON HER COMMERCIAL LOOK. I BET TYRA AND SALEISHA KNEW EACH OTHER LIKE THEY'RE CLOSE.. NOT BECOZ OF THE T-ZONE CAMP OF TYRA.. BUT... APPEARING ON HER SHOW TWICE AND WINNING ANTM? DUH... CHANTAL SHOULDVE WON.

I think that America's next topmodel chooses non white bred girls because that look has so been done in the fashion world. Blonde chicks are boring in fashion-they want "edgy"/artsy girls (and not bleach blondes) and everybody knows that clean cut abercrombie type chicks aren't original enough to have a unique/deep look. Its not "america's next top mall poster model";its for runway models. Most of those white chicks were bor-ing- Danielle for example- way more interesting looking/more of an individual- Also thank god someone in tv land can appreciate odd ball girls- people can't comprehend a non bland girl being considered beautiful. I mean Danielle for example took way more interesting photos with way more depth than her competetion- I was glad she won and thought she was the best one. But I think that Russian girl was a way better runway walker than the Jaslene girl- and also- not snotty. As for the every 3 cycles theory- I dunno- I think that overall the black girls on that show ha

Hmm... the white girls end up losing on America's Next Top Model...why...because they turn out to be racists. Case and point: Melrose.

There are so many beautiful girls to choose from. The one thing everyone is forgetting is beauty isn't everything. It's great to be beautiful, but you must have the confidence to pull everything togehter.

OMG SO TRUE YOU ARE SO SMARRRRRRRRRRRRTTTTTTT

Posted on 12/13/2007 at 5:12:32 PM

So it's only rigged cuz the black girls won? That's ridiculous. White girls won cycles 1,2,5 and 7. Where's the pattern with that? It seems like you're saying that black girls don't deserve to win based on their own merit. You're silly.

I believe there is a formula in how winners will be chosen...or narrowed down...in these talent competitions...whether ANTM or AI or Project Runway, etc...I think it's pretty fair to allow different segments of our American Population win...a black girl may win every three cycles...but, how many [black girls] are chosen as part of the opening 13 with the exposure and potential opportunities this experience presents?

Posted on 12/13/2007 at 12:12:35 AM

come on, that you dont make a differnce is a low blow. the article is just a theory, looks like. you all claim to "love black people" but what does that matter when you are intolerent of a simple theory of someone else.. LAME.. make opinions.. make statements.. but dont make hate.

Posted on 12/12/2007 at 11:12:50 PM

wow....a lot of people taking this WAY too seriously. makes it even funnier.

Posted on 12/12/2007 at 9:12:26 PM

lol, you are SO stupid....i actually thought Jenah would win, but she didn't because theyd idn't like her attitude. on this last episode, Saleisha was much better than Chantal. but i didn't think they'd pick Saleisha, and i'm black! i was actually thinking Ebony would win, but she made an early exit. after that, i was thinking Heather or Bianca because they were the underdogs.
