Many that live in the Middle East have a problem with getting the right amount of energy for the growing number of people in those areas. They are also experiencing problems due to the demand of oil. Some feel that the Red Sea may be a solution to this problem. There are some who feel that there are many benefits to this type of project, since that amount of water would be able to produce large amounts of power. The process to do this would require that dams be built to separate the large bodies of water. The problem is that many are afraid of the type of damage a project like this one could cause to the environment. By disturbing the natural cycle of the Red Sea, there is not telling what amount of damage could be done to the environment as a result. Since a project like this one has never been done before there really is no way for anyone to be able to predict exactly what type of harm could really be done by placing dams in the Red Sea. In a project this enormous it would be necessary for all of the countries in those areas to be involved and in full agreement as to what will be done. What also bothers many people is the fact that some scientists seem to think that you can control the negative affects that can occur when transforming the red sea.
