Marketing to Moms is an easy way to get your brand to grow. Moms make up to 80% of all purchasing decision, yet 80% of advertising out there is not focused on the mom.

Beyond their spending power it moms are the number one source of "word of mouth" advertising. Moms tell other moms what products to try and what products to buy. If a mom loves a website or a blog she is going to let her friends know. Simply put moms are talking to one another.

There are several different kinds of moms out there. There is the Stay at Home Mom, the Work at Home Mom, Work Outside the Home Mom, the Eco-Mom, and Moms who are a little bit of everything. The one thing all of these women have in common is that they all have children, and more then likely they are the ones who are in control of the families spending. They are the ones doing the grocery shopping, clothes shopping, and planning the vacations. Not to say Dad does not assist in these things, he surely does, but let's face it moms usually spend more time at these tasks.

These moms also have an unlimited number of friends that they share product information with. A busy mom my converse over lunch with another busy mom about the best bottle for baby. We will catch a group of moms at baby story-time at the local library talking about the best baby sling to use and offering other moms the chance to try out their hosting to see if they like it. Moms gather at city parks and drop casual comments about the toys that they are buying for the holidays or the best gift there little one.

Another example of the power of mom is the newly pregnant mom. Say she is planning on breastfeeding. She is more likely to trust the advice of a currently breastfeeding mom on what pump to use then she is to trust her lactation consultant. moms want to use what other moms are using and what they like.

Get your product into the hand of a mom who likes it and you are getting it in the ear of at least a dozen other women with children. See Mom knows people. She talks with people at church, with people at her Le Leche League Meeting, with moms at playgroups and moms at book clubs.

Takeaways
  • Moms make 80% on purchasing decisions
  • Mommy Blogs get your product out there
  • Moms are the best Word of Mouth Out There
