Wedding Planning Software for Macs

For the Apple of Your Eye

At the intersection of blogging Mac maniacs and message-board brides, I discovered a small but vocal minority of people: engaged couples seeking wedding planning software for Macs. While Windows users have a wide variety of options for pre-nuptial
programs, including the excellent iDo (which I’ve reviewed separately), Mac users are left with very few choices in wedding planning software. After scouring the web, tracking down publishers, and reading reviews, I’ve discovered only two wedding planning software programs available for Macs, and both have received some down dings for product support.

Wedding Planning Software for Macs: Summitsoft Wedding Planner

Although not available for direct download at online software hubs like download.com, Summitsoft Wedding Planner is available from vendors like CompUSA and Amazon/Target for around $30. It requires Mac OS X 10.2.6 or higher, but is available for Windows as well, which makes sorting through reviews difficult. It’s hard to tell which platform’s users are satisfied. In terms of features, people are lauding this wedding planning software, saying that it covers all the lists, layouts, documents, and everything else that plays into a well-organized, efficient event planning process. However, one Amazon.com reviewer who specifically used the Mac version said that she couldn’t even run the application and received a runaround from their email and live tech support. But since it’s only one of two instances of wedding planning software for Macs I could find, it may still be worth the attempt.

I received a free copy of WeddingPlanner from Marriott, since I'm having my wedding there. I'm using the software, and so far so good.

more users than not on amazon.com's review of summitsoft say that it does not work on macs, and/or it crashed and lost a lot of information. also they mention that the tech support is nonexistent or weakly responsive and basically useless

PerfectTablePlan is available for both MacOSX and Windows. Rather than covering the whole wedding planning process (much of which can be done with a spreadsheet) it concentrates on the toughest problem - the reception seating plan. A free trial is available from: http://www.perfecttableplan.com
