On September 24, 2005 at noon, there will be thousands--if not millions--gathering at the White House to collectively shout, figuratively at least, "I told you so." And then will begin the call for impeachment that should have been called by the two or three Republican lawmakers with a soul or any of the Democratic lawmakers if they had any guts. (With apologies to Howard Dean, the only Democrat with guts.)Along with coordinated actions taking place in Los Angeles and San Francisco--probably in many other cities--this latest march on Washington is designed to draw attention to what millions of voters last November apparently didn't notice. Or worse, didn't care about.
What is taking place in Iraq isn't a war, it's an illegal invasion that was planned even before 9/11, had nothing to do with 9/11, and wasn't based on anything having anything to do with WMDs. By the way, do you know how many Weapons of Mass Destruction it takes to kill an infinite number of Americans?
None.
Not very funny, huh?
Although anyone who has been paying attention to the endless string of lies coming out of the White House for the past four and a half years already knew that President Bush went to war against for Iraq without provocation, thankfully at last a smoking gun has finally not been quashed with attacks against patriotism. The Downing Street memo clearly shows that the Bush administration fixing intelligence and fact around policy. In other words, the policy was their desire to go to war, so therefore they used intelligence and created facts that supported that position.
Let's reiterate what so many people seemed to have failed to notice or remember: This war was predicated on one fact and one fact only: Saddam had WMDs and was going to use them against the US. We didn't invade his country and take it over because he was a bad guy. He was a bad guy back when the President's father was involved in selling Saddam weapons. Was he any worse a bad guy the day we invaded? That's not why we invaded Iraq.
It was because of WMDs. And how many did he have?
None.
