On Thursday December 13, 2007 United States Senator George Mitchell had a press conference in which he released the detailed findings from his investigation into the use of steroids and performance enhancing drugs in baseball. His 409 page document named the players involved and spread the blame for the problem of steorids among players, coaches and owners. In his report he also detailed the steps that major league baseball needs to take to restore the integrity to the game.

Roger Clemens was the biggest name mentioned in the report with 8 pages discussing his use of steroids. Brian McNamee was Roger Clemens' personal trainer and from his testimony, Mitchell concluded that Clemens had in fact used steroids to enhance his performance. Andy Pettite was also named in the report from McNamee who was also Pettite's strength training coach. The report states that Pettite used steroids in 2003 to recover from tendinitis in his shoulder to recover quicker and return to pitching from the disabled list. Clemens' use of steroids is detailed on page 169 of the report.

Also mentioned in the report were the following people: Marvin Bernard, Jason and Jeremy Giambi, Gary Sheffield, Armando Rios, Miguel Tejada, Randy Velarde, Barry Bonds, Bobby Estella, Benito Santiago, Eric Gagne, Troy Glaus, Gary Matthews Jr, Brian Roberts, Paul LoDuca, Rick Ankiel and Jay Gibbons.

Another important part of the investigation from George Mitchell's staff was Kirk Radomski who had been facing charges by the U.S. Attorney's office for supplying steroids to players. It is believed that a large amount of evidence that Mitchell obtained against these players named in the report came from Radomski's testimony.
