Pembroke Pines and Boca Raton as well as Coral Springs. The first Doris' was started as a meat market in Hollywood, Florida in 1947. Getting to Doris on the week end usually means bucking a lot of traffic since University Drive is an extremely busy shopping area, I would recommend visiting Doris' during the week if possible.

When you walk through the automatic doors the smell is divine. Doris' selection of fresh baked breads and pastries, deli delights is just delightful. You take a number and point out what you'd like.

You enter the fresh produce section on your right and the produce is artfully arranged in stacks. There are always bargains to be had. The bargains are not damaged items they are just well priced specials of the week or day.The produce comes fresh from the farms every morning. This week you can get 4 Navel Oranges for only $1.00 and a string of Figs is only $2.99. You can check the weekly full page ad in the Sun Sentinel for specials of the week.

There are aisles and aisles of imported gourmet foods. There are wonderful Italian vinegars, jams, canned goods, pastas and desserts. Doris' sells its own own oil and coffees as well as other brands. They carry Lamonica Calamari, Imported La Florentine Pannetonne from Italy, Lira Vinegar, Torrone Almond Nougat Candy and more. The Pirouline coookies are $4.99 here and $5.99 in T.J. Maxx proving once again, that Doris' is a gourmet store without the gourmet prices. They also carry Italian novelties amd kitchen ware. They sell Pizelle machines, espresso coffee pots for instance.

There is an area to pick out refrigerated drinks, soda, Starbuck's and the like. You can pick out fresh made salads at the salad bar,not the lettuce, tomato variety but pasta salad sides.
