Iris Jonhansen

Iris Jonhansen was born in 1938 and began her career like most woman writer by writing Romance. She started by using the pseudo name of Barbara Kemp. Women have a hard time getting into other genres like crime and suspense but she kept at it until she managed to break into these fields too.

Now that she finally accomplished this, she writes a wicked crime and suspense novel these days. Her character have great depth, wonderful dialog that sounds like you are really in the middle of their scenes and makes you feel like you know these people. This helps the reader to their dire experiences.

She began writing after her two children left for college and since she was a avid reader, she continued on to be an avid writer as well. Her first romance novel hit the market in early 1980. By 1991 she began to write and entered the field of suspense novels with the book, The Wind Dancer. By 1996 she finally manage to crack into the crime genre and wrote her first successful crime novel. Her books are now going full blast with 17 novel hitting the best seller list on the New York Times.

She is married and live in Georgia and her daughter helps her by doing research for her novels. Iris often carries her character from one book to another, making minor character major ones in another book. She is a great story teller that has learned to get her plots tightened and in doing that the suspense increased in each of her books. She now writes some of the best crime books you can imagine. Her Eve Duncan series is especially interesting as she is a forensic sculpture who helps solve crimes.

Her major characters are both male and female orientated, making it possible for her to write novels that both men and woman enjoy. This is a rare talent, as most men do not like to read what woman writers have to say.

He latest book out in hardback is Pandora's Daughter which came out in October of 2007. Quicksand and Silent Thunder will both be out in 2008 for your pleasure as well.

Nikki, I think you will find she write about the same in this genre too, but instead it has more suspense, some crime, and much more depth to her books now. I really enjoy her books. I never was a romance reader much. She still manages to incorporate some romance in theses great novels and you might want to try reading one. I don't think you would be disappointed. She really is a good writer and know how to write a twist, as well keeping you on the edge of your seat as to what will happen next.
