Generic or Name-Brand Products: Testing Which are Better
Embed:
Do you think you save money by buying the generics or off brand items? Why not, they are just as good right? Maybe in some cases, but in others, you are not getting the quality. Here are a few examples.Laundry detergent: I used to purchase the generic or store brand item until I had a coupon on a name brand item. I purchased the name brand and the jug lasted me twice as long and my laundry was a lot cleaner and smelled ten times better, with the fabric softener in the detergent, you don't even have to buy the dryer sheets.
Another product that will not hold up is the dishwasher detergent, you can not see it working but the end result for me has been dirty or film covered dishes at the end of the cycle.
Like your cheese with a little vegetable oil in, buy the store brand and that is what you got, can you imagine what that stuff is doing to your veins; it looks like cheese, but read the ingredients.
I can't believe it's not butter, because it isn't, if you are buying the store brand, once again just like the cheese, mostly vegetable oil, check the label. You can fry in that stuff like good old fashion lard.
Are you cheating your pets? Generic and store brand pet food does not carry a quarter of the protein and other ingredients that you pet needs to live a long healthy life. Our dogs won't even touch it, so it is a complete waste of money for me. You pet's need good, nutritional food, especially if you are keeping them outside. We have an old dog with no teeth, he actually suffered from a food allergy because of a preservative in the generic brand dog food, we had to change him to lamb and rice for over a year till we could go back to a beef based food.
Now, I am not saying that all generics or store brand items are bad, I purchase a lot of canned vegetables, pastas, shampoos, garbage bags and a variety of other items. You just need to take a test run on the item and see for yourself.
Clip a few coupons and purchase the name brand on the items that don't hold up under the generic brand. You will save money because they will hold true to the test, you will use less therefore it will last longer.
