Restaurant Reviews: Wah-Shing Chinese Restaurant of Pen Argyl, Pennsylvania
Bad Food, Poor Service, Questionable Cleanliness
We have all heard the variety of jokes that often center around Chinese restaurants. However, a majority of the time, most Chinese restaurants are actually great places to eat if one likes thaFrom the very moment that one arrives, Wah-Shing spells bad news. Parking and getting out of the car rewards one with the strong smell of sewage from the poor drainage system that is set up behind the restaurant. While this smell is mostly muffled inside, there are still times that one will get a whiff or two while eating. Actually walking into the restaurant reveals a nice, clean and well kept lobby. However, this impression is not to last long, and it only takes a few moments before this positive impression of Wah-Shing is once again shattered.
As you are rushed to your seat, and the waitress throws menus on your table before rushing away, you start to get the feeling that the tables and dishes of the restaurant could perhaps have been cleaned just a little bit better. You also start to get the feeling that maybe the restaurant should higher more people. Even when there are only one or two tables in use, it still takes an eternity to get waited on.
Thankfully, the menu selection is good, and those who enjoy Chinese food have a very full selection in front of them. However, few of those selections are actually worth ordering. As the chefs in the kitchen slap your food together, it resembles little of the menu picture by the time it comes out. Strangely, for the speed at which your food is thrown in front of you, rarely ever is it hot. Perhaps this is due to the slow wait staff, or perhaps the food was not cooked long enough. Either way, the fact remains, getting a hot meal at Wah-Shing is a difficult thing indeed.
