Passing out Valentine's Day cards has become a big tradition, but how about making a Valentine that people can actually use. Personalized Valentines on a note pad are a fun and useful gift for kids to give to friends and loved ones. Here are very easy instructions to make Valentine's Day note pads using items you probably already have in the house.
What You Need
-20 sheets of lined paper
-Stapler
-Bright colored paper, wrapping paper in Valentine's Day colors, or Valentine Cards
-Paper Cutter
-Light Poster board or Cardboard
-Double Sided Tape
-Valentine Themed Rubber Stamps and Stickers
The following instructions are for a set of two notepads, but if you use wrapping paper you should have plenty left over to make as many as you can depending on your supply of lined paper and poster board. You can really get creative when it comes to materials and creating your notepad cover. The notepad in my photo has a Dior magazine ad as a cover, we found several other ads that were colorful and whimsical to recycle.
What You Do
Stack the sheets of lined paper into your paper cutter and cut the paper in half, the long way. You now have enough note pad paper to make two Valentine notepads. Cut your poster board into pieces that are slightly larger than a regular lined sheet of paper, make the length of the piece an eighth of an inch longer but keep the width the same. You want the paper board to be longer so that when it completely fit as a cover when it is folded over.
Select the material you will be using as your notepad cover. As I said, you can use Valentine's Day wrapping paper, recycle magazine ads, or use regular brightly colored paper that you decorate with stamps, stickers or Valentine's Day cards. I do not recommend taking a short cut and decorating right on top of the poster board, they either tend to be glossy and smear or matte and over absorb marker and ink.
However you decide to decorate is fine, and each note pad will be a unique and personal gift. Get creative and turn your note pad into a valentine itself, add messages to the front, attach cutout hearts or pen a love poem.
