Predator: Concrete Jungle Review

Despite having excellent movies associated with its name, The Predator has had a far worse fare in the world of video games. Despite multiple games coming out over the years, the vast majority have been drastic failures (with the exception of Alien vs. Predator). Predator: Concrete Jungle is a new game released from Eurocom and VU Games that slipped heavily under the radar despite its blockbuster name. However, after some play time with it, it seems as if it was for the better as Predator: Concrete Jungle does nothing to fix the problems with the franchise in the realm of video gaming.

The story is basically that you are a Predator, part of a proud race of hunters who simply kill for the sport, who has fallen from grace due to certain circumstances. After many years you are given the opportunity to head back to earth and redeem yourself by destroying a ring of mobsters who have found Predator technology and are using it for obviously not so good purposes. Really, whoever thought of this needs to read some Sci-Fi books and watch the Predator movies again, because right from the get-go the game starts out under par with such a lame storyline.

In concept, the whole idea of a kick-ass hunter roaming around with advanced weaponry, killer fighting abilities, and cloaking technology should make a fun game. However, it seems as if the developers managed to screw up such an easy win by providing extremely poor gameplay elements that any honorable gamer will be appalled to see.

The levels are terribly designed, the controls are shoddy and unresponsive, the Predator himself is extremely weak despite his unrivaled abilities and weaponry, and the game never seems to go anywhere. All of these factors combine to produce a disappointing game.
