San Antonio is located in central Texas and is well known as the home of the Alamo. You'd never know by the small town feel of this unique city that it is home to over one million people. There's a lot to do and see in San Antonio, including a number of fine museums, amusement parks and historical missions. With a vibrant cultural mix of old and modern Texas, this beautiful city is a gem of the longhorn state.

The Riverwalk
The Riverwalk of San Antonio is basically a bunch of shops and cafes lining the river on both sides. It is an excellent place to begin your exploration of San Antonio. Lively and happening day or night, it is a good place to visit while in San Antonio. The Riverwalk hosts guided ferry tours for those wishing a unique look at San Antonio.

The Alamo
This famous former mission was the site of the Battle of the Alamo and is considered sacred ground. If you're in San Antonio, be sure to check it out. Admission is free, but donations are encouraged.

San Antonio Missions National Park
Part of a colonization system that stretched across the Spanish Southwest from the 17th through the 19th century, San Antonio Missions National Park is home to four Spanish frontier missions. These missions, called San Jose, San Juan, Espada, and Concepcion, are beautifully preserved for visitors to this historic site. The national park was established in 1978 and covers 819 acres encompassing many cultural sites and natural areas.

King William Historic Area
The King Williams Historic Areas is a 25-block area near downtown on the south bank of the San Antonio River. It is home to a number of boutiques, shops, and dining, and is one of the oldest parts of San Antonio. Originally home to prominent German merchants, it was zoned as San Antonio's first historic district. If you're in the mood for some great architecture and cultural history, make sure to visit this section of San Antonio.
