Best SNES Game #1: Super Metroid - This is my favorite Super Nintendo game of all. One of the great parts about this game is when you get all the way to the end and you defeat the final challenge you have to run backwards out of the level. This way you don't end up with all of that pent up adrenaline, after beating the bad guy, and nothing to do with it.
Best SNES Game #2: Gradius - Gradius has got to be my second favorite Super Nintendo game. I loved this game for the original NES game system. The next generation of Gradius is a lot like the first game except the graphics are way better. Gradius is a must have for all SNES gamers.
Best SNES Game #3: Mortal Kombat - This is the classic fighting game. Mortal Kombat was one of the first fighting games to introduce such graphic violence into game play. I love the move one of the fighters does to rip the spine out of his rival.
Best SNES Game #4: The Rocketeer - This is a great game. For some reason I am one of the few people that I know who can get past the first level. It does take some practice but once you get the pattern down it's easy. The first level is a plane race and all you need to do is stay on the inside track and learn to turn at the right time. What is great is that later you get to race in the jet pack! This was a great improvement on the original version for NES.
Best SNES Game #5: Act Raiser 2 - One of the best story lines in a Super Nintendo game. The plot mirrors that of Paradise Lost, and The Divine Comedy. You act as an angle and you must defeat the seven deadly sins. The game comes to a close with your final battle against Satan who represents the deadly sin of Pride.
Now a nearly forgotten form of entertainment, I firmly believe that we owe much gratitude to the early days of Nintendo and Super Nintendo. I hope someday that the newer, fancier gaming systems of today will become forgotten and gaming will return to the simplicity of its beginnings.
