Yes, I am proud somewhat! On a whole, democracy gives people more rights than any other form of government I must say. You can see for yourself what's happening around the world today right on TV. In most communist and Muslim countries alone, human rights are not available to women and dissenters of any kind. So, even though some of our rights are being abused or diminished in some way today, we at least still HAVE RIGHTS!

Our constitution gave us all the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. A lot of us don't feel we have these rights anymore because our officials do not seem to mete out equal justice in many cases! There are citizens who have experienced abuse, mistreatment, and injustice by many governmental agencies who were developed to help the people in need of them and instead they have abused more people than they have helped. Either they hire incompetent employees who are rude to certain people and are outright disrespectful to others or you have those who could care less about you or what you need. When you apply for certain services, it is a hugh inconvenience for a lot of people who are elderly, disabled, and desperate. It's just a crying shame!

But, it's come to the point in America where "money" seems to be the golden rule if you want to be treated quickly and respectfully. And that makes it hard for us to realize that what we have is a blessing when we have to go through so much more when we're poor. It's hard to have pride in this country when you are not treated equally.
