The popularity of teeth whitening products is ever growing. I remember when the only whitening toothpaste on the market was Rembrandt. It was around $12 a tube.

Years later Colgate, Listerine and other oral hygiene producers entered the tooth whitening market. Now, it seems every name brand has a teeth whitening strips, gels, rinses, and now ultraviolet light applications you can apply in home.

I've tried the whitening strips, toothpaste, and gel. I like a bright smile. I tried Listerine Whitening Pre-Brush Rinse on its promise of "An easy way to whiten teeth." The white bottle stood out among the other whitening products on the shelf. The packaging made an immediate subliminal contract with my teeth.

Listerine has been around as long as I can remember, and I trust the name brand. Over the past few years Listerine has marketed innovated products to increase their sustainability in oral hygiene. So many products are flavored and gentle; Listerine had to tone down their over-powering mouthwash and added new citrus flavors to the line. They had to, original Listerine was atrocious.

Listerine whitening pre-brush rinse is strong. The taste is minty, not as bad as regular Listerine. The water, alcohol, and hydrogen peroxide mixture shock my mouth awake.

Hydrogen peroxide provides the advertised "Dynamic foaming action." There is no doubt it works to clean my teeth. Its foaming action is very strong. If you can stand the astringent feel and extreme foam, the product makes your mouth feel clean. In addition to whitening, it kills germs that cause bad breath but does not contain the Listerine formula that reduces plaque and gingivitis.

½ ounce of Listerine Whitening pre-brush rinse is swished full strength for 60 seconds. Then, I brush my teeth as usual. The product says results can be expected in about 12 weeks, and results will vary.

Foaming action? For something you put in your mouth? So everyone can say you are "foaming at the mouth?" :)

If your teeth are sensitive like mine, tooth whitening can sting a little. Great review!

I've been thinking about trying a whitening product, and like you I don't have badly stained teeth. I'm going to try the Colgate cleaning gel you mentioned and skip this one. Thanks for the info!

I concur with your conclusion, Lenora. This product didn't impress me. Frankly, I didn't like it & thought it a waste of money. Excellent review.
