The Christmas holiday is a holiday that many feel food plays a central role in. Of course Christmas superstitions are no different, and many deal with food that is consumed during the holiday season. Many people love to eat as much as they can, and if they do this with mine pies they not only will gain weight, but will have good luck in the coming year. The rumor is during the holiday season the number of mince pies you eat that are uncut will be the number of months of good luck you have in the coming year. The one little qualifier is each mince pie must be consumed at a different house to count.
Everyone of course knows that if you are under mistletoe you are supposed to share a kiss with someone. There are other holiday superstitions involving mistletoe that are lesser known as well. Just hanging a piece of mistletoe in your house is considered good luck. Kissing under the mistletoe will present you with good luck as well, you are not just following the tradition. Yet, if you do not kiss while you are under mistletoe that will result in bad luck. Bad luck will also arise if you place mistletoe in a church. This is because the decoration is associated with paganism.
