UMG Buyers Edge and UMG My Advisor Scam

Credit Card Holders Beware

My husband received quite a surprise when he opened his credit card statement and found two unauthorized charges for $19.95 each, one from UMG Buyers Edge and one from UMG My Advisor. He called the phone numbers listed beside the charges and was given a
transaction number and a promise his account would be credited. Then, while he called the credit card company to file a formal dispute of the UMG charges, I decided to check the Internet.

I entered the first name on the statement, UMG Buyers Edge, and found 11 results. Nine of those 11 were complaints against the company for both the Buyers Edge and UMG My Advisor. Apparently, the charges are often paired together as they were on my husband’s credit card. The scam is not particularly new, as one complaint was dated November 4, 2004. A discussion from that date on RuneGame.com Forums gave the following information: “UMG* Buyers Edge 4 Help has been involved with internet fraud buy charging your bank account for stuff you never signed up for. They dont [sic] take much...just $9.99 per month or so. But this adds up to quite abit [sic] if you are not aware and this goes on for several months like this person found out :” The post goes on to quote information from the My3cents.com website of a complaint filed after the person’s credit card had been charged $10.00 per month for 11 months.

I'm am an over the road trucker and my wife pays my credit card bills for me. She looks them over but UMG RX ... appeared to her to be a co-payment for my blood pressure meds. They scammed me for $14.95 for 7 months before I had the chance to check my statements and realize I had been scammed. I called them and they could not tell me how or where they had acquired my credit card info. I disputed the charges with my credit card company Citi Bank and they initially issued a credit then after a couple months they put back $45. I called and tried to reason with them but got nowhere. I asked them to check the internet for complaints like these... they didn't have time. I pointed out that I had been their customer for 14 years and had a $24,000 credit line so if I wanted to cheat them I would have maxed out my credit and then said I could not pay them back... so I definitely wasn't trying to get out of paying a legit charge. I can ASSURE you that I NEVER agreed to these charges... and t

I agree with Jeremy. This is not a scam, you people simply and obviously need to manage your finances better. You obviously signed up for it to be charged on your credit cards, and the bank probably didn't suspect fraud since you authorized it, right? This program has actually saved me lots of money on travel, food, and quite a bit of other merchandise (like gift cards...etc), and for you to look up other idiotic people on google to find complaints is not real research, and the person writing this article is clearly another hack who didn't do her homework/didn't pay attention to finances. Grow up. Seriously.

We had a un-authorized transaction. I called the bank and they instructed me how to file a dispute. First call UMG (I put the contact info below), and take notes of the conversation. Demand refund and cancelization immediately. Get a confirmation number of the cancelization. Give them 1 or 2 business days to post the refund and keep a close eye on your statement for the coming months!! If they do not do what they said. Then file a dispute with your card company using all the notes. Most places will have your refund in 2 business days and they will issue a new card. United Marketing Group 929 N. I would recommend asking then who authorized this information and where did they get your card number? Then call the company that provided the info and file a complaint.

Buyers Edge has been charging me 11.99 since Oct. 2008. Just noticed it on my charge. Never signed up and they will only credit one month. Why do credit card companies allow this. These bastards should go to jail. Who do we complain to? Joe
