My husband received quite a surprise when he opened his credit card statement and found two unauthorized charges for $19.95 each, one from UMG Buyers Edge and one from UMG My Advisor. He called the phone numbers listed beside the charges and was given a transaction number and a promise his account would be credited. Then, while he called the credit card company to file a formal dispute of the UMG charges, I decided to check the Internet.

I entered the first name on the statement, UMG Buyers Edge, and found 11 results. Nine of those 11 were complaints against the company for both the Buyers Edge and UMG My Advisor. Apparently, the charges are often paired together as they were on my husband’s credit card. The scam is not particularly new, as one complaint was dated November 4, 2004. A discussion from that date on RuneGame.com Forums gave the following information: “UMG* Buyers Edge 4 Help has been involved with internet fraud buy charging your bank account for stuff you never signed up for. They dont [sic] take much...just $9.99 per month or so. But this adds up to quite abit [sic] if you are not aware and this goes on for several months like this person found out :” The post goes on to quote information from the My3cents.com website of a complaint filed after the person’s credit card had been charged $10.00 per month for 11 months.

Hey guys, unlike you guys, I have actually used this service before. I first got it several years ago when I didnt have a job. Its actually quite amazing if you use all of its benefits. Benefits: Every year you get 1 free lunch voucher (up to $20), a gas voucher (up to $20), 50% off movie tickets (up to 4 a month), 50% off of ticket master conveniece charge (up to like $200) a year. anwyays, the gas and lunch alone ar $40, and for those people who go to the movies with a date at least 4 times a year make the $60 back easily. word of advice.. for those who care about the few dolars spent, this is great (IF YOU USE IT)!

Thank you for finding the number and posting, this was very helpful. I just called the 1-800 number to cancel this RGI select status deal and they gave me a confirmation number and said that the $59 will be credited to my account within 1 to 2 billing cycles which I'm skeptical about... we will see how it goes. The person who helped me told me I was called in January and asked if I wanted this service which protects all of my credit cards (which should be protected anyway by the respective banks, right?) and gives me $20 gas card and half price movie tickets. I don't remember the call and I never acquiesce to advertisements like this, especially over the phone. Hence, I doubt that this company is reputable. I'm glad I checked my bank statements! and caught it on the first month.

Got Bank of America credit card statement and there was a $59.00 charge for RGI select services. No idea what this was until I read some of the posts on this site. Called BOA and told them that I had not authorized this transaction and was put on hold. The woman who came on next was from RGI - tell me that they are not in cahoots with one another! They could not produce any recording of my acceptance of their "product" and continued to try and sell me on this instead of cancelling it. I also inquired how they got my credit card number and was not answered. The woman stated that I would receive a credit on my next BOA statement, but could not give me a confirmation # or case #. The date that they said I suppossedly "accepted" this service, my girlfriend was home just having had surgery. She stated that these people had called repeatedly and were told after about the 10th time they called that if they called again, she was reporting them. Anyone have any comments on this/share experience

Well recently I too have noticed UMG*BUYERSEDGE showing on my Regions account history. I went online and googled the name and it came up with all sorts of fraud information. Buyers Edge can be contacted at 888-326-7156.....just a note, talk to a supervisor. They will give you more than 2 months back. I now know to question every little transaction and not assume my husband purchased something. Best of luck to everyone.

I also had a recent transaction of RGB Select status of 50$ posted to my Bank Of America credit card. I tried to dispute and as a first step BOA dispute department gave me their 800 no and asked me to call them and see if they are ready to revert the transaction. So I called them and they agreed to revert back the amount. But you know what the strange thing was they said while signing for the BOA credit card BOA team would have enrolled for this. This is really bad from BOA as they should have informed me about this charge ebfore enrolling. So my advice while signing for BOA credit card make sure you are aware of any additional enrollemnt. On top of this the BOA rep is asking me to talk to them before disputing. Isn't this strange..

Found an RGI charge on my b of a statement. Apparently, they are associated w/ b of a. They offer enhancements to your card like discounts on movie tickets...etc...blah blah. The ph # is 18008430905. Call to cxl . I apparently accepted ove rthe phone. (??) So I asked to hear a recording of that conversation. ...and in 7-10 days they are to contact me back with that. Funny how I never got sent any information, so i never got to enjoy all of the "enhancements" . what a crock!

Here is what I did 1- I contacted my Credit card company and asked them to dispute the charge; 2- I called UMG Buyers edge back, and asked them to cancel my "whatever" I have with them; 3- I reported the company to BBB; 4- I filled a compaint with the FBI. Here is my history: Yesterday (03/06/2007), I found an unauthorized charge of $11.99 on my Capital One Visa Credit Card account. The name of the company is UMG Buyersedge, telephone number 888-326-7156 located in Illinois. According to BBB, this company has many addresses. I never bought anything from this company; I have no idea who they were. I called them to find out about the charge, and how they got hold of my credit card account information. They said that I "signed up" for their "services" over the internet when I bought something from another website. I was very suspicious of that because I know the companies that I buy from. I went to Google and I found out the following website, with name of people that are being vi

Hi, Here is a phone number you can call to try and get at least $30 of your dollars back - 1-800-843-0905. I agreed to review this service which they said was to get discounts on various merchandise. I forgot to cancell in the 60 days time so was charged. They wouldn't give all my money back so I thought I'd just get a year for the $29.95 and asked for an information packet on the program. I'm still waiting for the packet, they said they sent it at the end of January. I'm now going to call Bank of America directly to see if they have any information since the offer seemed to come from them. they even sent a credit card protector that used the Bank of America logo, so I guess we'll see. I hope this ifo has helped you.
