Dallas Cowboys Take Third Super Bowl
It was January 31, 1993 in Pasadena,
California at the Rose bowl Stadium. Garth Brooks sang the National Anthem, the Dallas Cowboys played the Buffalo Bills; Emmitt Smith rushed for
108 yards, the Dallas Cowboys took the
Super Bowl their third in their team history, and Troy Aikman was named
Super Bowl MVP. I viewed all of this from the 50-yard line. It was
Super Bowl XXVII and the stands were packed and the air was electric with excitement. I had never attended a professional football game before let alone a
Super Bowl game. I knew I would be attending the game weeks in advance, but the excitement didn't hit me until the caravan I was riding arrived at the Rose Bowl.
The parking lot's was packed and there were people standing outside the gates trying to scalp a ticket or two. The excitement increased when we were given our tickets which were to be attached to our belt looks you see we were part of the Half-Time show entertainment and that year Michael Jackson was performing. That's right Michael Jackson. I can remember the long ticket with its white background with the
Super Bowl XXVII logo printed at the top. We arrived by the bus loads and were actually late missing Garth Brooks performance, because the bus drivers made a wrong turn getting to the Rose Bowl Stadium. Can you image seeing twenty long yellow buses filled with people coming through the narrow, winding, residential neighborhood streets of Pasadena? However, we did listen to Garth Brooks rendition of the National Anthem by radio, before the kick-off.
