Reggie Bush. Heisman Trophy winner. Doak Walker winner. Two-time College Football champion. Possibly the most electrifying college running back of all time.

Vince Young. First Team All-American. Player of the Year Award. Quarterback of the Year. College football player of the year. Probably had the best performance in a national championship ever.

Matt Leinart. Heisman Trophy Winner. Two-time All-American. Two-time College Football champion. One of the most winningest quarterbacks in college football history.

Mario Williams. Who?

Those were the facts exiting the end of the 2005-06 college football season and entering the 2006 NFL Draft.

Therefore, you can imagine that when the Houston Texans opted to take Defensive End Mario Williams with the first pick of the draft that there was a lot of debate over whether or not that was the right move.

Everyone thought Reggie Bush was the consensus overall pick to be the first selection of the 2006 NFL Draft. However, with the Texans already having a decent back in RB Domanick Davis at the time, along with their divisional rivals, the Colts, having the most prolific offense in the game of football, the Texans decided that defense was the best way to make up ground with the team from Indianapolis.

Of course, everyone questioned them. From the ESPN analysts to the fans of Houston, the Texans were getting buried for not taking the likes of Bush, Young, or Leinart.

Nevertheless, here we are, almost two full seasons after that draft, and this is where we stand:

Reggie Bush has proven to be a dynamic receiver and great decoy, but as far as a running back, he hasn't successfully carried the load for the Saints for any decent period time.

Vince Young, while having lived up to his hype, has not been a great passer. Even if you overlook that because of his ability to win games, there is very little evidence out there for anyone to emphatically claim that Vince will be that much better than current Texans' quarterback, Matt Schaub.
