For me, most of the American Girl products Bath and Body Works sells smell too childish, and candy like for me to enjoy.
Recently though while browsing the store I saw a beautiful light purple bottle in the shape of a star sparkling on the shelf. The bottle was perfume, and the perfume was part of the American Girl collection, in the Hopes and Dreams scent.
The bottle is what called me over. It is rare to come across a bottle that is cool enough to save even after the perfume is gone. American Girl, Hopes and Dreams though is definitely collection worthy.
The perfume is clear, but if looking at it through the bottle, it looks like it is purple.
I wanted to test it before buying it. If the perfume smelled good, I'd take it home, and have a cool glass bottle for my collection. If the perfume sucked, I figured I'd leave it behind, because it was after all, a bit pricey.
American Girl Hopes and Dreams comes to $19.50 for a 1.7 ounce bottle. It's an okay price for perfume, but I usually will not spend this much money on perfume that comes from Bath and Body Works. (They make great lotions, but their perfume sometimes lacks when it comes to lasting for a long time).
Scent:
I sprayed my wrists, and collar. The smell hit me right away. Hopes and Dreams was definitely sugary. It was a warm scent, but too sugary. Overall what I got from it was vanilla and sugar. It reminded me a lot of lotions and body wash from the Temptations collection, so it definitely was not unique, and definitely not worth $19.50 in my opinion.
The warm vanilla sugar cookie scent is not really a scent for older women, as it seems to be geared more towards young girls and teens.
