Trek Mountain Bike Company

Trek Mountain Bike Company is known throughout the world for its high-quality bikes and cutting edge technology. Although Trek is currently one of the most famous mountain bike companies in the world, the company was not always so well-known. Trek was born in 1976 in a rented barn in
Waterloo, Wisconsin. When the company opened its doors, it boasted five employees. Just one year later, in 1977, Trek won its first dealer, when Penn Cycle in Minneapolis, Minnesota, agreed to market the company's bikes. By 1980, Trek had grown so much that it had run out of room in its rented barn facility, and Trek moved into a new facility in downtown Waterloo, Wisconsin. Trek continued to strive for growth and development.

By 1982, Trek added its first road racing bikes to its product line. In 1983, Trek designer Tim Isaac created the 850, which would become a popular mountain bike. In 1989, Trek went global when it opened its first international subsidiaries in Great Britain and Germany. In 1990, Trek introduced its first line of children's bikes. In 1997, the famous cyclist Lance Armstrong signed on with Trek and used the famous bikes in the sport. Armstrong went on to win victory and fame in the sport, including his 1999 win of the Tour de France on Trek's production 5200. In 2002, Tim DeBoom rides a Trek to victory at the Ironman World Championship in Kona, Hawaii. Today, Trek is an internationally known company, and Trek bicycles are sold in over 90 countries worldwide.

Although Trek has won fame and success thanks to its high-quality bicycles, the company has never forgotten the reason it opened its doors. Trek states on its website, www.trekbikes.com, that it is "committed to changing lives through cycling." Trek has accomplished this goal by providing consumers throughout the entire world with innovative products. The company boasts exceptional technology and bicycle friendly development. The company also prides itself on its excellent customer focus and care.
