Valentine's Day Craft: Heart Foot Stool

This heart foot stool is a fun Valentine's Day craft to make as a simple gift for a loved one on Valentine's Day. If you are looking for a fun wood craft for boys or girls to make for Valentine's Day, then try this simple heart shaped foot stool on for size.

To Make a Heart Shaped Foot Stool You Will Need:

Plywood

Wood legs

Screws

Jig Saw

Power drill

Paint

Paint Brush

Drop Clothe

Paper

Cut out a sheet of paper to about 14X14 inches. Fold the paper in half. Trace a heart out on the paper and cut it out.

Lay the heart pattern on your sheet of plywood and trace it onto the wood. Use yoru jigsaw to cut the heart out.

Now, take some sand paper and lightly sand the edges to get rid of any splinters.

Tip: In the craft store you can find heart shaped wood plaques. These work well for a stool as well and often have a nice beveled edge.

Now, turn the wood heart face down on the ground. Mark three places to install the wood leg. Two should be in the middle of the rounded tops the heart and one down by the point.

Place these legs about two to three inches in from the edge.

Lay the plate of the wood leg on the mark you made. Pre drill the holes, and then screw into place. Repeat on all three legs.

Screw each of the pre made legs into the plate they came with. You can buy pre made wood stool legs at Ikea, home improvement stores, and online.

If you can find legs for your Valentine's Day heart shaped stool, then use premade table legs and trim them down to the height you want yoru stool to be.

Now, prime the whole heart shaped stool out in a latex primer. Once this dries you can pain tit out in any color you want.

Tips: For added embellishments get creative with your heart shaped stool you can use upholstery takes and outline the heart about an inch in from the edges. Simply press the tacks in a row into the top of the stool these also look good on the outer edges of the stool as well.

You can also wood burn designs into the heart stool If you choose to wood burn then once any designs have been made, try using wood stains to color the heart shaped stool This looks great with wood burning and can completely customize the look for Mom!
