Camp Lejeune, located in Jacksonville, North Carolina, is home to thousands of United States Marines and their families. These types of families, from personal experience, are looking for the best deals. From furniture to clothing, they want to get the most bang for their buck. I have reviewed some of the major thrifty places near Camp Lejeune in Jacksonville to help ease the frustration of no-luck shopping trips. Here is what I found:

Park-N-Pawn
Located on Lejeune Boulevard, the main strip in Jacksonville, Park-N-Pawn gets a lot of traffic because of its convenience. The selection of items for sale range from jewelry to guns to television sets. Most of the items are in very used condition, but there were a few electronic items that were decent (i.e. a 28+ inch TV for cheap). The only great thing about the Park-N-Pawn pawn shop is that Marines can easily go in the store with a used item and come out with a pocket of cash. With that being said, it's easy to see why most of the items for sale aren't that great. Marines will need money for something that day and will find anything around the house with feasible monetary value.

Goodwill Industries
Goodwill is one of those stores that's either hit or miss, depending on the day. Their selection of furniture and home goods is measley; however, they had a decent amount of wearable and stylish vintage clothes. Some Goodwills are better than others, and this is one of the better ones. I found cute shirts, dresses, purses, and shoes all for less than $5 each piece! The only bad thing to say about Jacksonville, NC's Goodwill is that it doesn't have the classic Goodwill logo outside the building. Instead, it says GFC Industries, which can be confusing. I passed the building several times before realizing it was a Goodwill. This store is located on Western Boulevard, another major road in Jacksonville.

Takeaways
  • New River Pottery has the best "deals for a dollar".
  • Many Things Consignment & Upholstry has the best service and quality of goods.
  • Goodwill and Big Lots, both nationwide chains, fell short in Jacksonville, NC.
