As of this writing there are six, short shopping days left until Christmas. Hopefully, you have shopped and all your presents are wrapped, situated nicely beneath the tree. If you are like the rest of us, there is that list of last minute items that keeps lingers in the back, or front, of your mind.

You may not care for the crowds, but why not get out now and get it done? You'll be more relaxed once you finish shopping. You'll also be more relaxed if you know where to get the biggest bang for your buck.

Shopping last minute and saving money is going to require you to think outside the box.

Shop at Blockbuster.

Blockbuster has previously viewed DVD's and previously played video games. They also sell new products, if you just want to spend extra money. Their selection of movies runs $3.99 to $20. However, they have several specials during the holidays, and this is where I stuffed my stockings. Depending on the movie selection they have DVD's 5 for $20, 4 for $20, and 2 for $20. The selection is varied including comedy, drama, children's movies, and more.

Blockbuster offers a 30 guarantee against defects, so there is no worry about getting a previously viewed DVD that skips and being stuck with it.

XBOX games start at $4.99. If you have an XBOX 360 check online before you shop to see which games XBOX games are compatible with XBOX 360. They also have Wii, PS2, and a few used PS3 games. Their used games prices are a few dollars less than Gamestop. I also found their prices on new games to be cheaper than most other retailers.

Stop in at Blockbuster before you go buy new games and DVD's. I got 13 good movies for $80.

Shop at Dollar Tree.

For the first time, I found stocking stuffers and gifts at the dollar store. This is the Dollar Tree where you actually only spend one dollar per item.

  • First money saving stop Blockbuster for previously viewed DVD's.
  • Don't forget the Dollar Tree.
  • Save money buying clearance items.

I've seen the prices dropping quickly in many stores. This year, I think last minute shopping is a key to savings and you picked some stores which are bargains nearly any time, great job!
