Zithromax is Use in the Treatment of Pneumonia
Zithromax is a drug that belongs to the class known as Azithromycin.
Zithromax is in tablets, capsules and oral suspension.
Zithromax is a macrolide antibiotic. It is an azalide with the active ingredient azithromycin. Zithromax is to be taken orally. It is derived from erythromycin though it differs from erythromycin in chemical
Zithromax is a white crystalline powder. It is film-coated for oral use. Zithromax is in a capsule shape
The tablets contain 250mg of azithromycin with other non-active ingredients. Zithromax capsules are red, opaque, hard gelatin and contain 250mg of azithromycin.
Zithromax is supplied as a powder for oral suspension. The powder is in 300mg, 600mg, 900mg, and 1200mg per bottle.
Zithromax is absorbed into the body rapidly and when absorbed concentrates mainly in the tissue than the plasma and the serum.
Zithromax is use to treat moderate infection of pneumonia cause by susceptible strain of micro-organisms. This is not for those who have pneumonia classified as not fit for oral therapy due to some risk involve.
Zithromax can be use for patients of hemophilic influenza, moraxella catarrhalis, and streptococcus pneumonias.
Pharyngitis and Tonsillitis also respond to Zithromax but must not be the first therapy for these as penicillin intramuscular should be used.
Zithromax must not be relied on when treating syphilis on the recommended dosage. It may be incubating.
Zithromax tablets are to be taken 500mg single dose for the first day and 250mg in the 2nd-5th day of treatment. The tablets may be taken with or without food.
Zithromax capsules should not be taken with food. The capsules are to be taken an hour before food or 2 hours after meals.
For the treatment of genital ulcers a single dose of 1000mg should be use.
For the treatment of urethritis and cervicitis a single dose of 2000mg should be used.
Children should take oral suspension 10mg for the first day and 5mg for day 2-5.
The Zithromax oral suspension should not be taken with food but can be taken an hour before food or 2 hours after meals.
