Scientology - Religion Or Scam?

The word "Scientology" means "the study of knowledge or truth." I never even hear the term Scientology until all these celebrities started practicing it.

Basically Scientology consists of believing in the following 8 components:

1st Dynamic SELF — the individual, including his body, mind and immediate possessions.
2nd Dynamic FAMILY and children and all other creativity.
3rd Dynamic GROUP SURVIVAL whether friends, a club, company, nation or race.
4th Dynamic MANKIND as a species.

5th Dynamic LIFE FORMS including all plant and animal life.
6th Dynamic PHYSICAL UNIVERSE with its four components of matter, energy, space and time.
7th Dynamic SPIRITUAL dynamic — anything spiritual with or without identity, life source.
8th Dynamic INFINITY, also commonly called God, the Supreme Being or Creator.
(This is all represented in the “Eight Pointed Cross logo)

Scientologists also use a numeric scale to determine how to communicate with other individuals. It’s kind of odd to me, but here it is:

40.0(Serenity of Beingness) through 2.0(Antagonism) to 0.01(Dying) and 0.0(Body Death).

Scientology also teaches beliefs in space aliens, that anti-depressents are evil and that Man is an immortal, spiritual being with unlimited capabilities. It teaches that an individual is a spirit: not a body, not a brain, not a fortuitous random conglomeration of genes and chemicals.

MY OPINION:

I am Catholic and I believe in God. I don’t feel right telling others they are wrong about their beliefs. I have my own beliefs and I am no preacher. But the more I read about this the more odd it seemed. Some of the stuff is down right crazy.

To the readers here. What posts are left here are not all of the ones posted. There were many scientology members and critis posting to Tory's story here. She did such a great job writeing it. But all the pro scientology posts seem to be gone for whatever reason. It will be hard but try to read all of it as most of the critic replies talk about the post they are replying to. Or learn more at xenu.net or xenutv.com

Hey Lee, the toxicology report found no drugs or toxins in the Virgina Tech shooter's system. Although it's all just a big pharma/media/psych conspiracy isn't it? As far as psychology killing and scientology saving, I'm sure Lisa McPherson would disagree. www.whyaretheydead.net

You know that Virginia Tech salughter? And that Koren guy who killed over 30 students and himself? Pretty awful huh? Yes, one of the worst in the country. Let me tell you the truth. The south Koren guy that killed those innocent students was on Psych drugs and they did things in an Asylum that they could not show to TV. THE TRUTH IS PSYCOLOGY KILLS. USE SCIENTOLOGY TO STOP THE KILLING

I've known people who spent no more than the price of a book or two on the subject but who were yet accepted in Scientology. If a person reads books and gets another person to also read it, they can practice the awareness drills used in Scientology for free. If. If not and they want someone to do the work for them, then, yes they have to pay for the time. But, the information for the vast majority of the subject is in the books and is available for the cost of the books. That cost is not much different from other books, and less than most college-level textbooks, in my experience. The method is a tool for self-discovery, not an attempt to indoctrinate. Drills that train the method can look like indoctrination, since practice may be required to master the technique. You have to know when to ask what question, when to listen, when to move on to the next thing, etc. It's not hard, but it can take some practice, like any method you learn to do for the first time. I would recomm

I disagee Steve, if anything people will see the videos of protests and how members of scientology behave when anyone speaks against them. They will also see members protesting at critics homes and see a lot of court papers that will show them what " fair game" really means. But if they go to scientology.com and think that is best for them then I will be the first to wish them the best. I just don't belive if they go to all the sites they will become members. Its alarming that you feel every site that is critial of scientology has no balance. I don't see much balance at the scientology web site and there is NO balance at the Religous Freedom Watch. I have enjoyed talking with you and wish to thank you for the respect you have shown here. Some of the other members are not so kind. I still wish you would go to all the sites and see for yourself. scientology.com, xenu.net and xenutv.com

Thats the thing Steve, we didn't all just get along in the 50's and 60's. We just didn't have TV 27/7 to show us every little thing back them. What we didn't understand we hid and covered up back then. Now we face and confront issues for better or worse. I think the evidence is pretty clear in the million's who have been saved and are leading good lives due to the meds they are taking. And yes teachers are the first to see many times. Unlike parents they can see a child without the guilt and blame that keeps us from seeing. And without the parental love that says this can't happen to my child. Not so sure what you ment by the statement about psychiarists, I would think very few recive kickbacks and almost all are good people who only want to help.

No Steve, you are thinking of group homes. RTC's most times have a staff of trained doctors and part of their job is to decide who does and who doesn't need meds. Saying that prescribing them meds without justification is irresponsible makes no sense. Every doctor must be able to justify every case if asked to do so by a board. The number of meds given depends on what kind of RTC it is. But yes RTC's are ment to be medical faclilties.
